Jay Slater missing in Tenerife: New helicopter footage shows specialist teams continuing to search for teenager

New helicopter footage shows specialist teams continuing in their searches to find missing teenager Jay Slater. The 19-year-old from Lancashire, has now been missing since June 17, when he disappeared in the mountains of north west Tenerife.

He had stayed at an Airbnb rental the night before he vanished after 'walking off alone’ in a remote part of the Island. Since his disappearance, huge rescue efforts have been carried out involving members of the Civil Guard, fire crews and mountain rescue teams in the Rural de Teno Park.

The search is now in it's eleventh day. The Civil Guard, leading the investigation, previously revealed the search area being probed to find missing Jay had been expanded, with specialist dog teams drafted in from Madrid.

The 'immense' search area, previously said to be around 30km wide focusing on three main ravines in the Masca area, now also involves a number of forest trails and tracks within the Buenavista del Norte municipality.

More new footage, shared by the Civil Guard, shows helicopters deployed, hovering over the mountains as specialist teams use binoculars and equipment. It also shows dogs and mountain rescue teams walking through the area.

The footage, posted on Wednesday (June 26), also shows the varying weather conditions that the multi-agency response have been facing since the search first commenced on June 17.

On Wednesday, the weather in the mountains above Masca was overcast, with short spurts of wind and rain, worsening the challenging conditions being faced by police.

Jay's mum Debbie told the M.E.N on Thursday that there had been 'no further updates' in the search as it continued for its eleventh day. The last confirmed sighting of Jay was walking uphill alone, after staying the night at an Airbnb.
