Jay Slater police 'informed' of sighting as search in Tenerife continues

A CCTV image showing what could potentially be a grainy Jay Slater has been reported to police in Tenerife. Search teams narrowed their efforts yesterday on small buildings close to where his phone last pinged.

Officers from the Guardia Civil in the Canary Island could be seen circling two structures at the bottom of a ravine in Rural de Teno Park on Sunday. The Civil Guard has not yet confimed that they are investigating the latest CCTV image, which emerged on Monday (June 24).

MEN reporter James Holt, who is on the ground in the Canary Islands, reported: "This is the CCTV camera that faces the square would’ve picked up the footage. The Civl Guard are yet to confirm if they are investigating the sighting but Jays family say police have been informed @MENnewsdesk."

James went on: "Back at the church square in Santiago del Teide. This is the exact location where Jay Slater’s family have reported the possible sighting of him at around 6pm on Monday (June 17). They say CCTV images match his description."

He added: "A shop owner here in Santiago del Teide has said he ‘didn’t see’ Jay - but that the road down to the village from Masca is ‘very dangerous’ … “it’s steep and very long, about 7km” he said. “Very dangerous” @MENnewsdesk."

On Monday, Jay's dad Warren along with other family visited the village of Santiago del Teide once again with posters to put up around the area. A number of police cars were seen parked at the bottom of the village, and appeared to be conducting enquiries and asking local business owners questions in relation to his disappearance.

The Foreign Office is supporting his family. Jay's mum Debbie, dad Warren and brother Zak and other family members have flown out to Tenerife to support officers in the search.
