Locals in Tenerife believe they may have spotted the missing teenager Jay Slater.

The 19-year-old vanished 12 days ago on the Spanish island. However, the mayor of a nearby town said locals believe they may have spotted missing teen Jay Slater watching Euros matches.

Jay, an apprentice bricklayer, aged 19 from Oswaldtwistle, attended a three day music festival with friends, Lucy and Brad, in Tenerife. Afterward, he left the event by car with two men he had met during a night out.

Despite a significant search operation including helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs, Jay remains missing - last seen in a rural location near Masca village where he returned with the men to their Airbnb accommodation.

His friend, Lucy Mae Law, said she last heard from him on the morning of his disappearance, Monday, June 17. He reportedly called her, expressing his disorientation, a need for water, and disclosed that his phone was down to its final 1% charge.

Jay's distressed mother, Debbie Duncan, arrived in Tenerife shortly after her son was reported missing. She shared with media sources that she was "beside herself with worry" and feared Jay had been abducted, reports the Mirror.
