Arrested Development actor David Cross has claimed that the majority of the cast "stand behind" Jeffrey Tambor despite him being accused of sexual assault.

In an interview with amNew York, Cross said: “I can’t speak for everybody, but I know there are a number of us who stand behind him. From the limited amount we know, we stand behind Jeffrey – and I am one of them,”

Tambor was fired from Amazon drama Transparent over accusations that he behaved inappropriately towards former assistant Van Barnes and co-star Trace Lysette.

The actor ‘adamantly’ denies all allegations made against him and last week spoke out against the streaming service and Transparent creator Jill Soloway for their ‘deeply flawed’ investigation into the sexual harassment claims.

In a statement to Deadline, Tambor said: “In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have never been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon.

“Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicised atmosphere that afflicted our set.

“As I have consistently stated, I deeply regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone and I will continue to vehemently defend myself.

“I also deeply regret that this ground-breaking show, which changed so many lives, is now in jeopardy. That, to me, is the biggest heartbreak.”
