Jenna Bush Hager announces she's pregnant with her third child

Jenna Bush Hager announced this morning that she and husband Henry Hager are expecting their third child, just weeks after Bush Hager started her new role as co-host on The Today Show. Bush Hager, former president George W. Bush’s daughter, took over for Kathie Lee Gifford earlier this month and has been working alongside anchor Hoda Kotb ever since.

Last week, Kotb announced that she added a plus one to her family – her adopted daughter Hope Catherine – so it has been a happy couple of weeks on The Today Show.

And despite the recent wave of news, Bush Hager has actually been pregnant for a while now. “I’m very pregnant,” she said during the announcement. “I don’t know how I hid this.”

Bush Hager, 37, decided to break the news to her daughters Mila, 6, and Poppy, 3, inside of an egg hidden in their Easter baskets on Sunday, and their excitement is what led to the public announcement on-air this morning. “They told the man behind me on the airplane. They told the people at church,” Bush Hager said on Today. “They’re so happy — to [the point] where they’re telling strangers.” Since the girls chose to announce it themselves, the former first daughter decided it was time to share the announcement with the world.

Later during the show, Today hosted a gender reveal for Bush Hager in the form of a massive gift box topped with a big yellow bow. Though Bush Hager already knew the gender, the box opened up to expose the blue balloons and confetti inside while she exclaimed, “It’s a boy!” to co-host Meredith Vieira.

Bush Hager added that she and Henry are both shocked and excited. “We weren’t really trying to get pregnant. We had some fertility issues with Poppy, so we just, you know – it was a date night. Sorry Mom!”
