Jennifer Ellison has joined the cast of Take That musical 'Greatest Days'.

The 40-year-old star will appear in the band's official musical - which embarked on a major UK tour on 6 May 2023 - as Rachel from August 21st at the Kings Theatre, Glasgow.

The UK tour coincides with the summer 2023 release of the official movie version of the smash-hit musical, starring Aisling Bea and Jayde Adams.

Olivia Hallett is also joining the company, and will be performing the role of Young Rachel in the 'Greatest Days' musical from 24 July at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

The pair will join existing cast members Taylor Alman, Holly Ashton, Hannah Brown, Kalifa Burton, Benjamin Cameron, Jamie Corner, Archie Durrant, Regan Gascoigne, Kitty Harris, Bayley Hart, Keith Henderson, Karen Holmes, Christopher D. Hunt, Evangeline Jarvis Jones, Rachel Marwood, Mari McGinlay, Jamie-Rose Monk, Mary Moore, Alexanda O’Reilly, Charlotte Anne Steen and Alan Stocks.

Jennifer shot to fame playing Emily Shadwick in ‘Brookside’ from 1998 to 2003 when she was just a teenager, but has also become known for several stage roles, including appearing as Roxie Hart in 'Chicago', and treading the boards in the UK tours of 'Legally Blonde' and 'Calendar Girls'.

In December, Jennifer admitted she would love to appear in a "gritty drama".

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “I'd love to go back into TV. My casting bracket has changed. I used to be paying younger roles, now it would be the mum role, so I am at that funny transition stage, and a lot of casting directors still say, ‘We see you as a different kind of role, we see you as the mum role.’

“It’s getting the right thing. I have been offered stuff to do with acting roles, but they've never been the right thing for me. I want to do like real gritty drama now.

“I'd love to do, like, a modern day ‘Band of Gold’ or something like that. And that's like my dream and I want to kind of get back into at some point. It's got to the right role.”

The UK Tour of 'Greatest Days' by Tim Firth – The Official Take That Musical - is produced by Adam Kenwright for Kindred Partners.
