Jennifer Lawrence Film Gets Sudden Release Date

A Jennifer Lawrence film, which was finished two years ago, has suddenly been given a UK release date.

Serena is about newlyweds Serena and George Pemberton living in the North Carolina mountains in 1920s.

Lawrence's Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper plays her husband, with other cast members including Rhys Ifans and Toby Jones.

The film follows the ambitious Pembertons as they set up a timber empire but their marriage soon starts to unravel.

Filming on Serena, which is based on the novel by Ron Rash, wrapped two years ago and little has been done to publicise it since.

It has made no festival appearances, has no apparent trailer and only a few still pictures have been released.

But the film will be in cinemas from October 24. A US release date has not been confirmed.
