Yahoo News Jenny Slate Announces Her ‘Lifeform’ National Book Tour (Exclusive)
Jenny Slate has had a prolific year. Last January, her film Marcel the Shell With Shoes On was nominated for the best animated feature film Oscar. In February, she premiered her second stand-up special Seasoned Professional on Amazon Prime and announced the forthcoming publication of her sophomore memoir Lifeform. And this fall, she’ll be taking the book on tour.
Slate will be hitting the road to visit theaters in eight cities, where she will read pieces from the book and be in conversation with moderators and the audience. “It’s hard to decide what is my favorite part about writing books, but one unexpected pleasure is the chance to continue to engage with my thoughts and feelings with a live audience, to be in conversation with other people about what I’ve written down,” says Slate. “I know that these evenings will be so incredibly joyful for me, and I hope that anyone who joins me will feel that as well!”

Lifeform follows Slate’s 2019 debut Little Weirds, which used the sort of unconventional musings her fans have come to love to explore both the grief that came in the wake of her 2016 divorce and her approaches to friendship, feminism and finding love again. In the newest collection, she discusses her journey to and through motherhood through five phases: Single, True Love, Pregnancy, Baby and Ongoing.
“Completing this new work was a singular pleasure,” she previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “I dove deep, and I think I’ve surfaced more alive than ever, and I am so eager to share it all with anyone who is willing and ready. I know I am!”
The Lifeform tour, which is produced by Live Nation, will kick off on the book’s publication date of Oct. 22. The artist presale begins Tuesday, June 25, followed by additional presales throughout that week and the general onsale on Friday, June 28. See below for the full tour lineup:
