Jeremy Clarkson faced a series of setbacks in the opening moments of the new Clarkson's Farm series, leaving him utterly gutted.

The show is set to return to Prime Video next week, with Jeremy and his sidekick Kaleb Cooper grappling with financial challenges at the farm following several difficult years.

Within the first few minutes of the premiere episode, Jeremy receives some disheartening news, confessing that everything imaginable has gone wrong as he discusses his attempt at 'unfarming'.

Following an exceptionally dry summer, Jeremy's efforts to harvest any crops were thwarted, the Mirror reports.

The potatoes had undergone skin hardening, stunting their growth and rendering them too diminutive for the harvesting machinery to collect.

This was a significant blow to both Jeremy and Kaleb, as their hard work seemed to be in vain.

Complications continue elsewhere on the farm, with Jeremy discovering that his sunflowers are unharvestable, and his innovative farming experiment also faces a rocky start.

Unable to plant oil seed rape and confronted with an enforcement notice demanding the closure of his restaurant, Jeremy's struggles only intensify.

Jeremy previously shared the "heartbreaking" experience of losing piglets on his farm.

He explained: "It was just a heartbreaking time. I've never, ever seen Lisa cry - not once, ever since that all started and was unfolding. It was terrible.

"It is weird, because you love them and you help birth them and you feed and nurture and care for them. I mean, you don't say, 'Let's buy some pigs and hope they die.

"I thought it would be fun to have them, then they all just died in alarming numbers.

"It was absolutely horrific at the time, and we had another calamity with them just the other day, but by and large they're now going OK. We're getting more robust now, though - we're a bit stronger at dealing with it.

"That's a lot of money. I reckoned the pigs would provide something that's sadly lacking in farming today: a bit of genuine happiness.

Jeremy added: "It was almost unbelievably sad, we had a catastrophically high level of deaths. The piglets were sadly accidentally crushed by their mothers while some died of natural causes in infancy".
