Yahoo News Jerry Seinfeld has final word on Seinfeld revival
Jerry Seinfeld has reiterated that there will not be a Seinfeld revival. Sorry folks.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the comedy legend said there is no chance of the show coming back, because there's no point "tampering with something that went pretty well".
And we're sure that wasn't a dig at Will and Grace. Or Roseanne. Or Fuller House...
"Why [won't I appear in a revival]?" Seinfeld asked. "Maybe it's nice that you continue to love it instead of us tampering with something that went pretty well.
Seinfeld followed the adventures of neurotic New York stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his equally neurotic friends. The show premiered in 1989 and ended nine years later in 1998 after 173 episodes.
Rather than a revival, the 63-year-old comedian is choosing to dedicate his time to other endeavours such as his new Netflix stand-up special, Jerry Before Seinfeld, which begs the question of whether Jerry ever regretted giving up his stand-up dream to go on TV.
It appears, no. No, he absolutely did not.
"No, oh no! No, we're doing TV," he added.
"'Cause I never got any opportunities before and when you get [the] chance to do your own show, you know, that's the big chance."
But while it seems there will be no more Seinfeld, its comedy cousin, Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, will be returning for a ninth season – and we have a trailer.
"You are devoid of anything that's remotely caring or empathetic," Larry is told in the video, which he takes as a "great compliment". Hurray, he's back as loveable as ever!
