Jesy Nelson announces she is quitting showbiz and social media for an extended break

The former Little Mix star is taking time out from the world of celebrity to travel the world

Jesy Nelson has announced that she is quitting showbiz in order to pursue her dream of travelling the world.

The former Little Mix star took to Instagram to announce her big decision and share the news with her fans that she was also planning to quit social media for a while.

Nelson, 32, who rose to fame with Little Mix after joining the band in 2011 has been busy working hard on her solo career since she quit the group in 2020.

But now she is focusing on some time out from the hectic lifestyle of a pop star before making a planned comeback later in the year.

Posting on the social media app she wrote: “Hey guys! So for a long time I’ve really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it.

“I’ve got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I’m gonna take the summer off to travel the world.

“I’m going to be off my social media for a while, I love you all so much and I’ll see you when I’m back.”

Nelson recently revealed to The Sun her reasons for quitting Little Mix after a string of chart-topping hits and sell out tours worldwide.

She also confirmed that she hasn’t spoken to any of her former band mates since she quit almost three years ago.

She said: “Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don't have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with.

“For me my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled – and I really, really struggled with it.

“I was in it for nearly ten years. I think I was never prepared for what was to come. I didn't have social media or any of that, I was just a barmaid working in Dagenham."
