A jet-skier who fell into the sea off the Isle of Wight prompted an emergency rescue response today (Tuesday, May 7).

Emergency crews were alerted to reports that a man had fallen off his jet-ski 400m south of Yaverland Beach this afternoon.

Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, Sandown Independent Lifeboat and the coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent were sent to the scene.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was also in attendance.

A spokesperson from HM Coastguard said the man was recovered from the water by the lifeboat crew.

The County Press understands that the man was taken into the care of the ambulance service.
