Who is Jhon Arias? Fluminense forward linked with Leeds United and Premier League transfer

Leeds United are set to battle Premier League interest for the signing of Fluminense forward Jhon Arias, according to reports in Brazil.

The versatile 26-year-old can play across the forward line, amassing almost a goal contribution every two games for the Brazilian outfit with 73 goals and assists combined in 168 appearances.

Fluminense are said to be open to offers in the region of £12.6million for the Colombian international, but Leeds will face stiff competition from West Ham, Crystal Palace, and last season’s Championship winners, Leicester City.

While the price tag may seem an obstacle for the Whites, potential departures of key players may leave Daniel Farke with attacking holes to fill - particularly if Crysencio Summerville is to depart.

In Arias, Leeds would be adding a strong and agile attacker who can play on either wing, as well as at centre-forward or as a number 10, and offers a threat in the air despite his 5'7" stature.

The versatile and dynamic attacker has showed his worth in some of the more premier competitions he has featured in, scoring in the semi-finals of this seasons Club World Cup before suffering defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the final, Arias was previously part of the historic Fluminense side that won the clubs first ever Copa Libertadores in 2021.
