John Cena has confirmed he'll be returning to WWE on SmackDown next month.

The news was first announced by Fox Sports who reported Cena will appear on the September 1 edition of SmackDown, which takes place at The Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Cena will also be appearing with WWE in India for the upcoming WWE Superstar Spectacle show at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium on Friday, September 8.

The Fast X star confirmed the news of his WWE return on Twitter, writing: "Cannot wait to reunite with the @WWE family live on #Smackdown! Especially excited to meet the #WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the FIRST TIME EVER in ! The time is NOW…. C U all VERY soon!!!"

Cena's most recent appearance for WWE was when he surprised the UK crowd during Money in the Bank at London's O2 arena, where he advocated for the capital hosting WrestleMania in the future.

He was eventually interrupted by Grayson Waller, who ended up receiving an Attitude Adjustment for his troubles.

Last month, Cena revealed how much money he made from his very first WWE contract.

"My first contract with WWE was $12,000 a year," Cena told Kevin Hart on his podcast Hart to Heart.

"I quit my job the day I was signed. I think my rent was $1,000 a month. So all my money is now rent."

"My dad... I could have told him any other position. He would have been like, 'Yeah, whatever'," he said, explaining that when he told him he got "a job with WWE", his father said, "Oh, my son... This is unreal. It's going to be great. I can't believe it".

"Still, to this day, he's extremely proud," Cena added.
