John Torode shares bizarre early MasterChef plans

Appearing on This Morning, hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode revealed early pitches for MasterChef had the pair tasting food in a supermarket.

JOHN TORODE: I was pitched this program, which was a reinvention of "MasterChef," going around shopping centers, people bringing in plates of food, and us tasting them and seeing what they were like. And that was the original format. That was what was gonna happen.

GREGG WALLACE: Is that right?

- So when did it get changed to this competition?

JOHN TORODE: Well, then Gregg came on. And then it all sort of just changed, and moved on, and moved on, and moved on.
