Disney+'s Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series may be getting a bit of a John Wick vibe, as its creator has apparently boarded the writing staff.

Derek Kolstad has joined the Marvel series, according to TheWrap, so we are expecting a lot of action (with a side of vengeance, perhaps?).

The series is set to see Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles as Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) respectively.

However, they won't be the only familiar Marvel faces that we see, as it has been reported that Peggy Carter's great-niece Sharon (Emily VanCamp) and villain Zemo (Daniel Brühl) will also be back.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier is expected to premiere in August of next year, and is one of a number of Marvel Disney+ shows in the pipeline, including WandaVision and Loki.

Meanwhile, star Mackie recently opened up about joining the MCU, admitting that Wilson was not the first role he went for.

In fact, it was the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 – and while he lost that role to Ben Kingsley, the bosses were so impressed that they lined him up for Falcon.

"He has charisma, but he also has the ability to convey integrity in a way that very few actors can," director Joe Russo explained.

Mackie added: "Growing up, I'd always loved Falcon, because he was a comic book hero who was black who didn't have 'Black' in the title. He stood on his morals. He stood on who he was."

Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ in 2020.
