John Wick star in talks for TV spin-off The Continental

From Digital Spy

Following confirmation that John Wick TV series The Continental is officially happening at Starz, it's come to light that Ian McShane is in talks for the new show.

President of original programming for Starz, Carmi Zlotnik, told /Film: "There are certainly conversations about having Ian McShane back.

"The good part is we have some sort of insight into his schedule because of our involvement in American Gods. We're in conversations with Ian."

As the show's name suggests, it will revolve around the Continental Hotel that appears in the movies, a haven for assassins where they can (supposedly) move freely without risk of being knocked off.

Zlotnik went on to reveal that the main character "is new to the world" of the hotel, adding that "the story will be told present day", though "informed by what happened in the past".

"He won't be an assassin at the very beginning," Zlotnik said. "I don't want to give too much about the story away, but it's somebody who is new to the world. His origin story, when you go back to the beginning, unknown to him, has some ties to the world.

"I think the timeline for this show runs parallel with the timelines of the movies. So they're contemporaneous but they're separate. These are separate characters, separate stories. It's set in the John Wick world."

Zlotnik also confirmed that he expects there to be about eight episodes for the first season, though we don't know when it'll hit screens.

Next up in the franchise is John Wick: Chapter Three, which arrives in cinemas on May 17, 2019.
