John Wick: Chapter 2 hasn't even smashed into cinemas yet, but murmurs of a John Wick TV show are already flying about, and we're thrilled because we've exhausted everything else on TV.

Speaking at a recent press day for John Wick 2, director Chad Stahelski revealed (via Slash Film): "Well, we're not doing a prequel [with Chapter 2].

"We wanted to, it just didn't fit quite where we're at. We basically almost have a prequel written, but we'd save that for other aspects of the property."

Opening up about the prospect of a TV show, Stahelski then said: "Lionsgate is very interested in doing a John Wick TV show, and that seems very appealing to us, to give those creative ideas to that entity, because I think in TV you could really expand on what that is, and greater than we could in just a two-hour film.

"We'd like to wrap-up the story we're telling now and maybe save all our prequel ideas and impossible task ideas for that medium."

Meanwhile, John Wick 2 will see Keanu Reeves's dog-loving hitman forced once again out of retirement to face off against killers in Rome, though Stahelski previously explained they originally had "like 10 bad ideas".

He also confirmed John Wick 3 is in the works, adding: "The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something."

John Wick: Chapter 2 will be shooting into US cinemas on February 10 and UK cinemas on February 17.
