Join us and Leicester East’s Parliamentary hopefuls to discuss crime, immigration, housing, the NHS and the economy

General election: When are election results expected for Leicester and Leicestershire

Tonight, six candidates vying for your vote in Leicester East will be joining us to debate policy and tell you why they deserve your vote. In a week's time, the city and county will have a new set of MPs.

In Leicester East, the vote is set to be tense, with 10 candidates vying for your backing. Representatives from six parties, as well as four independents, are eyeing up the seat – and this election could result in a brand new MP, the first non-Labour win in more than three decades or potentially both combined.

We have invited the candidates from the country’s four main parties as well as the last two MPs who held the seat, and are now fighting to win it once more, to debate the NHS, crime, immigration, housing and the economy.

We will be joined this evening, Monday, July 1, by Rajesh Agrawal for Labour, Zuffar Haq for the Liberal Democrats, Mags Lewis for the Greens, Shivani Raja for the Conservatives, Keith Vaz for One Leicester and Claudia Webbe who is standing as an independent.

You can join us too by tuning in via the LeicestershireLive Facebook page at 6pm where we will be streaming the event as it happens.

Also running for the seat are three additional independent candidates Malihah Adam, Nags Agath and Khandu Patel, and Raj Solanki for Reform UK. We have given all candidates the chance to set out why they feel they deserve your vote.
