Josie Gibson has modestly responded after her donation to the family of James Kirby, an aid worker who was tragically killed in an Israeli airstrike, was publicly acknowledged.

The 47-year-old was among seven individuals from World Central Kitchen that lost their lives during the devastating attack on April 1. He was serving as part of a security team accompanying aid workers delivering over 100 tonnes of vital food supplies when IDF air strikes targeted their convoy.

Each of the three vehicles within the convoy were struck by an Israeli airstrike while exiting a warehouse situated in Deir al-Balah, located south of Gaza City, reports the Mirror.

Emerging beneath a snapshot of Josie and her son delighting in a visit to Lego Land, a social media user took advantage of the occasion to express gratitude towards Josie for contributing to the Just Giving page established for the Kirby family.

The intention behind the fundraiser was primarily to collect money to support the mother of the humanitarian aid worker, Jacqui Kirby. The commenter remarked: "I think you donated to our just giving page for our lovely Kirbs."

Presenting a heartfelt message, they further added, "If that was you I just want to say thank you. That means a lot. I wish you good health and happiness."

Facing the appreciative comment was This Morning presenter, Josie Gibson who responded with equal warmth, stating: "I thought Kirbs was mint! Such a lovely man [heart emojis] sending love to you all. You don't have to thank me."

The donation page presented to viewers indicates Josie's generous offering of £50 to the mourning family. The original target set was to accumulate £2,000, but they have since succeeded in amassing more than £16,000.

During James' memorial service, touching words of tribute were paid to him through the emotional speech delivered by his mother, Jacqui. The grieving mother of James, a former sniper with the Rifles regiment from Bristol, shared her profound sorrow.

She said: "James was a remarkable man, a true friend to so many people and above all, he was my son. I will miss him beyond measure and cannot comprehend a future without his presence. But I take great comfort from knowing he died doing something that really mattered to him, and the knowledge that he was loved by so many people from all walks of life."

James had a distinguished military career, serving in conflict zones including Bosnia and Afghanistan.

In the wake of the tragic loss of seven humanitarian workers, World Central Kitchen's founder, famed chef Jose Andres, expressed his devastation on social media.

He said: "Today @WCKitchen lost several of our sisters and brothers in an IDF air strike in Gaza. I am heartbroken and grieving for their families and friends and our whole WCK family. These are people...angels...I served alongside in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia. They are not faceless...they are not nameless."

He also issued a powerful plea, adding: "The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing. It needs to stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. No more innocent lives lost. Peace starts with our shared humanity. It needs to start now."

The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 35,000 deaths and approximately 80,000 injuries in Palestine due to Israel's relentless attacks.
