Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Without Hesitation, Says 1986’s ‘Troll’ Is Her ‘Worst Movie’

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is spilling on her “worst” film ever.

The “Veep” Emmy winner and star of recent feature “Tuesday” said that 1986’s “Troll” is her critically worst movie.

“That’s easy. ‘Troll,'” Louis-Dreyfus replied when Seth Meyers asked for her bad flick during a “Day Drinking” segment during “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

Meyers responded in shock, “I love ‘Troll’!”

Louis-Dreyfus quipped in return, “Shut the fuck up!” and threw water at him from across the bar.

“Troll” centered on a wizard who takes over an apartment building and possesses a young tenant. The film holds a 30 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and was a January 1986 release, if that says anything about its box office hopes.

Louis-Dreyfus recently told IndieWire’s Kate Erbland that deciding to star in Daina O. Pusić’s feature directorial debut “Tuesday” was an easy decision, despite the film’s premise being “super unusual.”

The actress plays a mother whose daughter (Lola Petticrew) is dying. Together, the duo try to fight off Death, which is embodied by a talking bird (Arinzé Kene).

“I was looking for something, I’m not going to use the word ‘dark,’ but dramatic, and it came at the right time, and this exact role, I felt like I had a way into it,” Louis-Dreyfus said. “I had an emotional understanding of what the task was before me. This movie required me to go to a place … I have not gone before as an actor in such a big way.”

Louis-Dreyfus added of preparing for the unprecedented role, “Perhaps when I was younger on stage, and I did dramatic parts, but to do a film that explores this kind of dramatic material, I needed to make sure I was in safe, tender hands. And then, of course, with the animation that’s in the film, I needed to make sure that the animation was going to be taken seriously. It wasn’t going to be a joke. That was critically important because, if that misses, then this whole thing falls apart.”
