Contains spoilers for The Trust

Our latest TV obsession is Netflix's new competition reality series The Trust. Set in a luxury beachside villa, 11 strangers are told they have already won a trust of $250,000 to share between them. The catch? They must then decide how the trust is split and who really deserves their share of the money, through a series of challenges and voting ceremonies.

While the series isn't a dating show, two of the show's contestants Julie, 28, and Jake, 37, have been seen to be developing a romantic connection as the show progresses.

But are they still together now? Here's what you need to know.

What happened with Jake and Julie on The Trust?

In the first episode of The Trust, Julie and Jake seemed to hit it off well and developed their connection in episode two where Julie shared more about her past with Jake.

However, things started to go downhill after the group brunch when host Brooke Baldwin asks the group to rank themselves on who is the smartest of the group. Jake put himself first and Julie was upset to hear he thought of himself as more intelligent than herself.

Then, when Jake was in charge of putting the group in order of most loyal, he didn't place Julie in first, leading her to be shocked at his choice. She later confronted him about it and they seemed to makeup.

Julie's feelings for Jake became evident in episode three when she voted for Simone to leave the trust in order to protect Jake from being voted out as she believed Jay was voting for Jake to leave the trust, and therefore voted for Simone to level out the votes. Julie later told Jake about her decision to vote to protect him, which he was appreciative of.

Later Jake chose Brian over Julie to be the person he wanted to sit next to at dinner during episode four, and while Julie seemed annoyed, it didn't seem to stop their connection.

As the next four episodes progressed, as did Julie and Jake's relationship and they appeared to get closer, with Julie often debating whether to side with Jake and the boys, or retain her friendship with Tolú and Winnie.

At the beginning of episode seven things really ramped up between Julie and Jake with the pair trying to share an intimate moment in the pool before they were awkwardly interrupted by Brian trying to discuss strategy. Um, so not the time Brian.

The couple later cuddled up in bed together, much to the awkwardness of Brian, who was in the bed next to them.

In the series finale episode they took their relationship to the next step and finally shared a kiss by the cliff edge. They then appeared together speaking directly to camera and were cuddling and Julie said "yeah it was good" appearing to be referencing the kiss.

Are Julie and Jake from The Trust still together now?

The pair ended their time on the show together seemingly very happy, and it appears that happiness has continued into the real world.

Following the final episode of the show which was released on 24th January, Julie and Jake posted a joint Instagram post of themselves cuddling up at an event and captioned it: "That's a wrap 😉." However, it appears the two are no longer together.

In an interview with EW, Jake revealed the couple did give their relationship a go after the show finished filming, and spent a number of "romantic weekends" together and met each other's friends.

"Right after the show finished filming, it was that very next weekend, Julie came to visit me. We hung out that whole weekend, had a tonne of fun here in Florida, and then three weeks later, I flew to Austin, did some fun things together," he told the publication. "We had a romantic couple of weekends together, spent some good time together, and we did things that a normal couple would do, going out, and tonnes of fun events together, and meeting her friends."

However, it was not meant to be as Jake revealed the distance between them (he's in Florida, while Julie is in Texas) made things difficult.

"There came a point in the long-term, though, towards the end where we looked at the reality of what is this going to be outside of this? She's in Texas, I'm in Florida, we live vastly different lifestyles," he explained. "Is it really going to be something that's going to be a long-term commitment longevity? We both realized that, clearly, it's not. She has a great career path in front of her, and I wish her nothing but the best."

While they may not be in a romantic relationship now, the two are still friends and are in regular contact.
