Leeds United's win 4-3 win over Middlesbrough was all the more remarkable after the revelation that several of the Whites' squad had been battling illness in the run up to the game.

Daniel Farke's side had to dig deep to get the better of Boro, but left Teesside with three valuable points that lifts them into second place in the Championship table. Leeds now have two more games to get over the line, with rivals Ipswich holding a game in hand.

That means that while Farke's men need to beat Queens Park Rangers and Southampton in the final two games, they also need Ipswich to slip up - with Kieran McKenna's squad playing Hull, Coventry, Huddersfield before the end of the season. There's no doubt this Leeds side is fighting every inch of the way, however, and that couldn't be more exemplified by Junior Firpo's admission after the win at the Riverside.

The left-back revealed he and several of the squad had been under the weather in the lead up to the game, and that he was almost ill during the second half - but battled on to secure the win.

"I've been with a fever for three days," he revealed after the win over Middlesbrough. "I've been ill today, a few lads were feeling the same, we have a little bit of illness in the squad. This shows how important it is to be ready, everyone was ready. Everyone was living everything, including myself, including Jaidon Anthony who was ill. As I say a few lads were ill, including myself. I was about to throw up in the second half. It was tough."

Firpo again showed his creative skills, crossing for Patrick Bamford to put Leeds ahead after Crysencio Summerville's penalty had cancelled out Isaiah Jones' opener. He then set up Summerville's second-half goal which made it 4-2, taking his tally to seven assists for the season.
