Just Stop Oil protests - live: 13 arrests as activists target Piccadilly and Mayfair
The Metropolitan Police has made 13 arrests after Just Stop Oil protesters blocked a main road and sprayed paint over luxury car showrooms in central London.
Activists blocked the Piccadilly main road near The Ritz hotel and Green Park by sitting on the tarmac this afternoon - with some even gluing themselves to the ground.
The Met said it had arrested 11 people after this protest for “willful obstruction of the highway”.
Earlier in the day, Just Stop Oil protesters sprayed orange paint over Ferrari, Bugatti and Bentley luxury car showrooms in Mayfair.
Police said two were arrested for criminal damage after the protest.
It comes during a month of action which has seen activists block roads and stage protests in a call for an end to all new oil and gas licenses.
Just Stop Oil has vowed to continue with protests until its demands are met.

🗯A bystander asks "do you think this is normal?".
No, this is not normal. It's unacceptable. We don't want to be on the streets in civil resistance. But we have no choice. Unless @RishiSunak stops new oil and gas, the famines, fires and floods will get worse. Oil is killing us. pic.twitter.com/K96tO0GksT— Just Stop Oil (@JustStop_Oil) October 26, 2022
