Kanye West has dropped an album teaser after revealing that he's ditched his phone to concentrate on his music

The 40-year-old is expected to release two albums in the coming weeks, including his own solo LP Ye and a joint project with actor and recording artist Kid Cudi.

West told his fans about his lifestyle change in a post on his social media accounts on Tuesday.

He wrote: “For anyone whose tried to text or call me in the past 2 weeks I got rid of that phone so I could focus on these albums.”

He later posted a video of himself mixing songs with two visible boards separating the track listings for the project.

The news comes after West faced an influx of criticism after he appeared to claim that “400 years of slavery was a choice.”

He attempted to clarify his “slavery is a choice” comments in an interview with TMZ, but was quickly shut down by a staff member.

He made the comments during an interview in the TMZ newsroom, which was met by some significant backlash.

Sigh.

Staff member Van Lathan was quick to stand up to West about the view he pegged as “free-thought.”

Lathan said: “I actually don’t think you’re thinking anything. I think what you’re doing is the absence of thought.

“The reason why I feel like that is because Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion, you’re entitled to your thoughts, you’re entitled to believe whatever you want but there is fact and real world, real life consequence behind everything you just said.
