Kaos is a forthcoming Netflix series that promises to show us a different side to the Greek gods, and we finally know it will land in August.

The intriguing, eight-part series is the latest project from writer and actor Charlie Covell, who most recently wrote the critically acclaimed black comedy-drama The End of the F***ing World.

Originally, it was set to star Hugh Grant, though he was replaced just a few weeks later by Jurassic World: Dominion's Jeff Goldblum.

If you're a fan of dark comedy or Greek mythology, Kaos sounds like the one to watch. It might even end up becoming one of the best Netflix shows! Here's everything we know about Kaos so far...

Kaos release date

Kaos will debut on Netflix on August 29, 2024.

Who's in the Kaos cast?

Jeff Goldblum leads the cast as the King of the Gods, Zeus. According to Netflix, his version of the ruler is "cruel, stylish and all-powerful"... until he isn't.

Goldblum is far from the only big name involved. David Thewlis (Landscapers) is on board as Zeus's brother, Hades, who is losing his control over the underworld as several wandering souls have grown restless whilst waiting to be processed.

Janet McTeer (Ozark) plays Hera, Queen of the Gods, who will be forced into action as her power over her husband continues to wane as his neurosis sets in.

Nabhaan Rizwan (Station Eleven) is Zeus' rebellious son Dionysus, who's said to be on course for a cosmic collision with his father.

Avatar: The Way of Water star Cliff Curtis is Poseidon. The God of Sea, Storms, Earthquakes and Horses, Poseidon is ignoring Earth's calls for change and is instead concerned more with his superyacht and finding the next party spot.

The gods' inaction isn't going to go unchallenged, though, as four mortals are all connected to the battle against Zeus in some way. Riddy (played by Aurora Perrineau), Orpheus (Killian Scott), Canues (Misia Butler), and Ari (Leila Farzad) might come from very different walks of life, but any of them might be destined to bring Zeus down.

Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie) is also set to appear in a cameo role. Stanley Townsend (The Current War) and Rakie Ayola (The Pact) are also involved but their roles remain undisclosed.

Entourage star Debi Mazar is also part of the cast. She plays Kaos' version of Medusa.

Kaos plot

The makers tease: "Having long enjoyed his status as King of the gods, Zeus' reign has never been truly threatened. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Believing it to be the harbinger of an ancient prophecy which foretells his destruction, neurosis sets in: Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming. As his paranoia takes hold, the god of gods — seeing signs everywhere — starts to dangerously self-destruct.

"And he's right to be worried. Zeus’ one time friend and now prisoner, Prometheus, is orchestrating a plan to bring him down. The plan involves three disparate humans, all of whom are totally unaware of their cosmic significance or the part they must play in saving the world. No pressure. (Some pressure.)"
