The Karate Kid's new television sequel Cobra Kai will revisit old rivalries.

An extended trailer for the forthcoming series, which will be launched on YouTube's television platform Red in May, was released on Thursday (March 22) and teased the revival of one of the 1980s' greatest movie feuds.

Yes, 34 years on, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence will once again come head-to-head to on the karate mat, with both Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprising their roles as the long-time adversaries.

Alright. Who else is excited?

The two-and-a-half-minute trailer begins with a reliving of the iconic duo's fight, before flashing to the present day where Daniel is running a successful car dealership and Johnny seems a bit down on his luck.

That is, until he sees a teenager being bullied by a group of students and decides to reopen karate dojo Cobra Kai and become the teenager's sensei, channelling some serious Mr Miyagi vibes.

Daniel, on the other hand, isn't having it.

"He thinks he can bring Cobra Kai back to the valley," he says in the trailer. "Not on my watch."

The trailer ends with the two facing off once more, but who will emerge as the victor this time? Only time will tell, we guess.

Cobra Kai premieres on YouTube Red on May 2.
