The presenter appeared to mock the pop star’s fluctuating size during a segment about her recent divorce from John-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

In a conversation with Ben Shepherd and Richard Arnold, Kate joked that Cheryl had ‘ballooned’ since ending her marriage and subsequently dropping her ‘ Fernandez-Versini’ surname.

As a picture of now just simply ‘Cheryl’ with her new boyfriend, One Direction star Liam Payne, appeared on the screen Kate made her comment, adding:

“That’s what counts as putting on weight in Cheryl ’s world,” to which the three presenters all laughed.

Cheryl’s divorce documents, released yesterday, stated her marriage caused her to lose weight.

In a statement made yesterday, a spokesperson for Cheryl said: “Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained Decree Nisi in their divorce proceedings. No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected.”

Now, it’s been revealed Cheryl cited Jean-Bernard’s "unreasonable behaviour” in her divorce papers, and claimed it had caused her “stress and weight loss”.

The marriage ended earlier this year just 19 months after they tied the knot in a secret beach ceremony having met just three months before.

This was the pop star’s second marriage after divorcing footballer Ashley Cole back in 2010 after four years.

The 33-year-old has since found love with 23-year-old Liam Payne who is reported as being ‘madly in love’ with the former Girls Aloud singer.

Cheryl is not believed to have attended court yesterday for the hearing, which lasted just 14 seconds.
