Kate Garraway's Life Stories will not air this weekend following the death of the presenter's husband Derek Draper.

ITV had been expected to air a repeat episode of the interview series on Saturday night (January 6) at 11pm, but it has been replaced by DNA Journey in the timeslot (via Radio Times).

The schedule change was made a few hours after the sad news was announced that Kate's husband Derek passed away following nearly four years of ill health related to his March 2020 COVID-19 diagnosis.

In a social media statement, Kate shared the tragic news: "Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed.

"I have so much more to say, and of course I will do so in due course, but for now I just want to thank all the medical teams who fought so hard to save him and to make his final moments as comfortable and dignified as possible."

Many of her current and former colleagues at ITV have paid tribute to Derek today (January 5), including Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid and Lorraine Kelly.

"Our whole hearts are with you all," Reid wrote, while Kelly added: "So sorry Kate. You fought so hard. Just incredibly sad. Sending you love."

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins shared a photo of Derek and Kate on her Instagram page and wrote: "Such desperately sad news about Derek.

"It’s been an incredibly tough time for all the family & Kate has been so strong throughout all this – please send her your love & prayers so she knows we're all here for her."
