The presenter had said she was “on a hair trigger emotionally” on Friday’s (30 June) instalment of the ITV show, which came a couple of days after she collected her MBE from Prince William with her husband Derek Draper looking on.
And her emotion spilled out as Eurovision star Ryder performed an acoustic version of his song Fought And Lost.
Garraway, 56, sat watching the performance with her co-host Ben Shephard and was seen wiping away tears.
“Oh my God,” she said as Ryder came to an end.
“That has floored me!”
Dabbing her face, Garraway said: “The lyrics and that voice!
“Sam, you have finished me off.”
On Wednesday (28 June), the TV star was at Windsor Castle to collect her award after being recognised in the New Year Honours for her services to broadcasting, journalism and charity.
Draper, who spent more than a year in hospital amid his fight with COVID, was with her and watched from his wheelchair as she was given the honour.
Before Ryder’s appearance on GMB, Garraway had said that she was “on a bit of a hair trigger emotionally”.
Labour MP Wes Streeting was on the programme and was talking about how wonderful it was to see Garraway get the accolade and to see Draper there with her.
Thanking him, Garraway said: “I could burst into tears at any point, it’s all caught up with me, but thank you so, so much.”
