Piers Morgan slams 'disgusting scumbags' who stole Kate Garraway's family car

Watch: Kate Garraway reveals her car has been stolen

Kate Garraway has shared with Good Morning Britain viewers the news that thieves have stolen her family’s beloved car.

The presenter told co-hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid of the theft of “Vicky the Volvo”, with Morgan branding the perpetrators “disgusting scumbags”.

At first Garraway assumed the car’s absence was down to a parking ticket that may been overlooked while her husband Derek Draper has been battling for his life after contracting COVID-19.

Appearing on GMB, 53-year-old said: “My car has been stolen… I know everyone has laughed about my car because it’s 20 years old…

“It’s had two blow-outs but it’s never broken down. I don’t feel that’s Vicky’s fault.”

She added: “Initially I thought it’s bound to be an unpaid parking ticket that Derek hasn’t been able to sort out while out of action since March and it’s probably gone through a system and it’s been impounded – but it’s actually been stolen. It’s a real nuisance.

“It was such a body blow, particularly to [son] Billy, because that’s our family car, it’s just another thing that has been grabbed away.”

On the same day the car was stolen, there was a flood in the bathroom that leaked in the kitchen. Garraway said she thought: “Oh, for the love of God. I don’t want to complain but can we just have something go right?”

A livid Morgan responded: “Let me get this straight. Some little scumbag or scumbags have come to your house and stolen your car when you’re going through what you’re going through.

“It is absolutely disgusting. If you know someone who has this car… It makes me puke that someone has done this.”

Addressing the camera, he added: “Honestly, if you took that car, look at your humanity for a moment please and give the damn car back.

“It’s got sentimental value. It is the family car and it’s the only one the two kids have known, it’s part of the family life. This family needs that car.”

Watch Good Morning Britain weekdays on ITV from 6am.
