The former glamour model posted a video on Instagram, thanking her supporters after their public petition surpassed 100,000 signatures, meaning that the topic will now be considered for debate in the Houses of Parliament.

Speaking from her current holiday destination in the Maldives, the mum-of-five said: “Hey guys, I can’t tell you how happy I am. We’ve got over 100,000 signatures already for my petition, I’m so happy. Thank you so much.”

She urged: “Please keep signing the petition. The more we get, the more we can make an effect to these bullies and trolls. Let’s make it a criminal offence for them. Keep it up!”

Katie, 38, then turned to Harvey and said that she is doing it all for him before giving him a kiss.

The Loose Women panellist launched the petition on Wednesday after sharing screenshots of online abuse from trolls targeting her son, who is blind and has autism, ADHD and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Katie explained her reasons for creating the petition in a short clip posted online yesterday, saying: “My son has very complex needs and he gets online bullying trolls and people who abuse his size, colour, looks and disability. Harvey is very fortunate not to understand, but I do, and I will do everything in my power to make sure these trolling bullies get punished.

“Every day, people from all ages get trolling bullies for all different reasons, and a lot of it is causing suicide. It’s about time these trolls and bullies get punished.”

Katie has regularly condemned offensive messages directed at her 14-year-old son and earlier this year a troll who admitted to sending abuse revealed he had been kicked out of his job after the model exposed him.

Mark Williams, who has reportedly sent abusive messages about other stars including Cheryl and Taylor Swift, addressed his actions at the time, saying: “For those who know me, I would like to apologise for the shame I have brought to you all.

“To everyone who I have upset and angered with my comments please know this is not how I truly feel, the comments were thoughtless and I realise I showed no consideration for anyone else’s feelings and deeply regret my actions.”
