Katie Price avoids jail for speeding just days before drink-drive crash

Katie Price is to avoid jail yet again as she will not appear in court to face speeding charges, which took place just days before her drink-drive crash.

The 44-year-old reality star and mother-of-five - who received a suspended sentence in December after she pleaded guilty to drink-driving in the early hours of 29 September - is accused of speeding and driving while disqualified 11 days before the crash.

Price is scheduled to appear remotely at at Crawley Magistrates Court under the single justice procedure, which means she will face a fine as well as points on her license or a further driving ban.

The model is accused of driving her BMW over the speed limit in a 60mph zone near her home in West Sussex in September last year.

A single magistrate will issue a sentence remotely later today.

If Price pleads Not Guilty a court hearing will have to be scheduled.

She is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday 25 May for allegedly breaching a restraining order by sending foul-mouthed texts aimed at her ex Kieran Hayler's partner Michelle Penticost.

Price is expected to be given bail on the condition that she has no direct or indirect contact with Penticost.

In December last year she pleaded guilty to drink-driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

She was given a four month suspended sentence and ordered to complete 20 hours of rehab and 100 hours of community service.

Price has previously been banned from driving on five occasions for various reasons including speeding, driving without insurance and breaching existing driving bans.

The former glamour model - who was declared bankrupt in 2019 - is mother to 19-year-old son Harvey, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke.

She also shares Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, with first husband Peter Andre. They married in 2005 and split in 2009.

She married Kieran Hayler in 2013 and they share and Jett, eight, and Bunny, seven. The couple renewed their marriage vows three times before splitting in 2018.

Price began dating Carl Woods in June 2020 and in April 2021 they announced they were engaged to be married – her seventh engagement.

In August that year, Essex Police confirmed that an unnamed man had been arrested on suspicion of assault, theft and controlling behaviour following an alleged attack on Price in the early hours.

Price — who has previously spoken about her treatment for cocaine addiction — had also returned to rehab at The Priory at the beginning of 2020.

She is now registered as disabled after breaking both her feet when she fell from a 25ft wall in Turkey while on holiday in 2020.
