Additionally, the lineup takes in the family fayre “Secret Kingdom,” helmed by Matt Drummond. Rounding out the diverse offerings is an intense and bearded Guy Pierce in horror thriller “Sunrise,” co-starring Alex Pettyfer, and penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Ronan Blaney (“Boogaloo and Graham.”)
“In very dynamic, and why not, complex moment of our industry, it is a privilege for me and EO Media to count on a partner such as SPI International and its amazing team, to continue the strategy that has given us great results in 2023, to continue to bring a selection of new exciting films, to follow the path of our prior top titles that are now being watched on the different platforms and windows throughout Latin America, including Brazil,” Olzanski said.
“We want to be part – by putting our energy on selecting, acquiring and bringing the best options to our clients – of the reactivation of the industry’s acquisition-distribution engine, hoping to help our partners to seduce Latin American audiences, always avid of new quality content,” he added.
The EO Media and SPI International alliance is not new: It already boasts a portfolio including “Arthur’s Whiskey,” the best reviewed of titles, joining the ranks of another Diane Keaton acquisitions, “Mack & Rita,” and “Corner Office” with Jon Hamm,
The growing slate encompasses action, drama, and family movies. EO Media and SPI International hold down ongoing agreements with platforms and channels throughout Latin America.
Additionally, the partnership brings strong cast library titles to the table, such as “The Watcher,” featuring Keanu Reeves, James Spader, and Marisa Tomei, and “The Quest” with Jean-Claude Van Damme.
“Latin America and Brazil hold strategic significance for our expansion efforts, enabling us to deliver top-notch content to their audiences. We are delighted to continue our partnership with EO Media into the new year, ensuring the introduction of a broader array of captivating titles for audiences to savor across different platforms,” Alexandra Puiu, Head of Sales for Latin America, Spain, Portugal and CEE at SPI International said.
On the co-production front, following the successful model taken by Emmy-nominated “El Presidente,”, EO Media is actively collaborating with top talent and partners from Latin America, Europe, and the United States. This includes the new Star+ Original “Ringo: Glory & Death,” available globally through Hulu in the U.S., Star + in Latin America, and Disney + in Europe and the rest of the world.
Well reviewed in its native Argentina, the series tracks the fabled life of Argentine boxer Oscar “Ringo” Bonavena who brought a marauding, tough as a ship’s deck style to the ring. In a career spanning 68 bouts he gave greats of his era – think Frazier, Patterson and Muhammad Ali – puzzling and tough nights. It was a life that ended in his tragic murder aged 33. The series was considered a standout at 2022’s Iberseries & Platino Industria.
Playing the title role is Jerónimo Bosia, recently seen in J.A. Bayona’s big hit “Society of the Snow.”
EO Media is also involved in the upcoming WBD/TNT & Flow’s Original “Cris Miro (Ella).” Set to launch in 2024, it stars Mina Serrano.
The slate will introduced to buyers at next week’s Content Americas market and forum in Miami.
