Keanu Reeves awkwardly reminded of Sandra Bullock crush on The One Show
The two Hollywood heavyweights starred in Speed together.
What did you miss?
Keanu Reeves was made to address his supposed crush on Sandra Bullock while appearing on The One Show.
During Wednesday, 23 October's episode, the John Wick megastar sat beside author China Miéville on the sofa, whom he worked with on his new speculative fiction novel The Book of Elsewhere, but one curveball from co-presenter Gabby Logan gave the room an immediate air of awkwardness.
She referred back to production on Reeves and Bullock's 1994 action classic Speed, where its two leads were apparently quite fond of each other without the other one's knowledge.
What, how and why?
The One Show's Alex Jones steered the conversation towards Speed's 30th anniversary, asking if Reeves and Bullock's celebratory reunion was enjoyable.
"That was so nice," he replied. "Yeah, Sandra Bullock and I get along really well and it's always nice to see her, so it was nice to kind of hang out for a little bit."
To the studio guest's slight astonishment, Logan chipped in: "Didn't you discover later that you could've got on even better... you both had a bit of a crush on each other on set but you didn't find out until later on that you kind of fancied each other..."
"Ohhhh yeah!" grinned Reeves, looking to the ceiling, "We were very professional."
"That would've been a nice couple!" pointed out Alex, as her colleague commented: "There was great chemistry on screen any way, it was fantastic."

What is the history between Reeves and Bullock?
Having stormed the box office together as Jack Traven and Annie Porter in Speed, who must keep a bomb-loaded bus above 50mph in rush hour Los Angeles traffic, Reeves and his Oscar-winning co-star have remained platonically close ever since, reuniting for 2006's The Lake House.
Bullock told Esquire in 2021 that he once turned up at her house equipped with champagne, flowers and truffles, just because she'd never tried them together.
"When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable. And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get. And I thought, 'I don't understand what's happening! He's looking at me with eyes of confusion. He's quiet. Did I say something to offend him?'" she said.
"And then a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, 'I thought about what you said.' And he would have his response."
Romance never blossomed between the pair, though, with Bullock noting: "Keanu's a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he's ever dated. I don't think there's anyone who has something horrible to say about him. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together. And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being."
The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One from 7pm.
