Keith Flint made people give him money whenever they made a 'Firestarter' joke
The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint was announced dead on Monday after being found at home in Essex by police. He was 49-years-old.
Tributes poured in for the frontman who was seen as a pioneer on the British music scene, and whose band’s music formed an integral part of so many people’s lives.
One story which caught the attention of social media was about Flint’s work after The Prodigy, as the landlord of Leather Bottle in Pleshey, Essex, near the home he shared with his wife, DJ Mayumi Kai.

In the anecdote, taken from a 2015 interview with Flint in FHM magazine. Flint explained how he deals with pub visitors who can’t help but reference one of The Prodigy’s most famous songs when the opportunity presents them.
“We’ve got an open fire, and I’ve got about 60 quid in a pint pot on the mantelpiece because every time I light it, the Firestarter jokes come out, and boom, I’m like, that’s very funny, you owe me a pound.”
Flint assured that all proceeds from the bad jokes went to charity.
Fans of Flint shared the story on Twitter, calling him “brilliant” and a “legend.”
The Prodigy rose to fame in the 1990s thanks to tracks like Firestarter and Breathe, and held a prominent place in the UK’s popular Big Beat and rave music scenes.
After the news broke on, the band posted a tribute to their frontman, stating via Instagram that Flint had taken his own life, and they were, “ shell shocked , f***in angry , confused and heart broken.”
The Prodigy were due to tour the US in May, as well as play a number of festivals worldwide.
