Kellie Bright stunned at outcome of EastEnders' Christmas murder mystery
The actor's character, Linda, killed Keanu and she admitted she 'did not see it coming at all'
What did you miss?
Kellie Bright has admitted that finding out she was EastEnders’ Christmas killer was as big a shock to her as it was to viewers.
The BBC soap’s festive storyline saw Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) murdered in the Queen Vic. Fans were gripped as it was covered up by a group of the women known as ‘The Six’ – Linda Carter (Bright), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).
It turned out that Linda was the murderer, and that she killed Keanu after he attacked Sharon.
What, how, and why?
Speaking on The One Show, Bright said she never expected that her alter ago would be the killer.
“It was news to me as well,” she said. “I was really surprised. I did not see it coming at all. I thought I would be the last person that would do it.
“When it was explained to me how it was going to happen I kind of went, ‘Oh ok, I can sort of see…'. She doesn’t intend to kill him, she’s stopping him from killing her best friend. It’s a moment of desperation, madness, chaos.
“A lot happens that day. It’s EastEnders, it’s Christmas Day, of course a lot happens. It kind of all built to this moment.”
She went on: “You know, I have been on the show for 10 years now and I did think it was a brilliant episode. I was very proud to be part of it.”
Kellie Bright kept secret from her friends
Bright said she watched the episode at home on Christmas Day and although her husband knew she was the killer, her friends had no idea.
She said: “I sat on the sofa next to my best friend and he was going, ‘Oh no, oh no no no no no', like he could stop me from doing it by holding my hand.
"It was a really lovely moment actually, it was fun to watch their reaction… and even our WhatsApp group from work, because it was kept a secret from most people. It was very funny,” Bright added.
