Kelly Brook has claimed Caroline Flack is “following her life,” describing the similarities between their careers and romantic relationships as “weird.”
Talking about the Love Island presenter on Heart radio this week, the former presenter of the popular ITV2 dating show said she “can’t believe [Flack’s] doing Love Island and dating Danny Cipriani, whom she was in an on/off relationship between 2008 and 2013.
“I was like, ‘Is she just following my life or something,’ she continued. “Hang on, I was the first host of Love Island, then I dated Danny. It’s like, what’s next?
“Is she going to come and start hosting this show next? I don’t know if she’s still dating him. But when I look at stuff like that I’m like, ‘This is just weird.
“It’s just weird."
Brook presented the first series of Love Island - back when it featured celebrity contestants such as Bianca Gascoigne and Calum Best - alongside Patrick Kielty in 2005. She was replaced by Fearne Cotton ahead of the second series.
Flack, who presents the rebooted version of the reality competition, has been linked to Gloucester rugby player Cipriani since the pair were spotted kissing at Babington House, Somerset in April.
Just last week, it was reported that they had ended their romance so that Flack could concentrate on the fifth series of Love Island, which is currently filming in Majorca.
Last year, she called off her engagement to former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Andrew Brady.
Flack is reportedly “upset” by Brook’s “needlessly catty and unpleasant comments”, according to The Sun.
“It’s well known that Kelly was sacked by Celebrity Love Island,” sources told the publication. “Caroline has hosted the show for five years and ITV have seen the ratings increase every year.”
Just a few days ago, Love Island had its highest-ever opening, with 3.3 million viewers tuning in to see who will be occupying the villa for the next couple of months.
Love Island continues on ITV2, tonight at 9pm.
