Kelly Brook has defended criticism for airbrushing her photos.

Appearing on today’s Loose Women, the former model-turned-presenter defended her decision to edit her photos she shared from her day out at Royal Ascot.

After sharing some snaps of her and other half Jeremy Parisi, fans slammed the star for editing her photos and slimming down her figure.

So, on this lunchtime’s show co-hosts Ruth Langsford, Jane Moore, and Ayda Field asked her about the controversy and to explain her reasons, after people on Twitter called her a hypocrite and branded her attitudes damaging to body image.

She claimed it was to give herself ‘a better line’, when people noticed she’d manipulated the photos – specifically one with Jeremy that distorted his body and made her stomach and waist slimmer.

‘I was in the car for two hours… I just thought I smooth it out a little bit,’ she tried to explain.

Ruth asked her about making her waist smaller, to which she replied: ‘No, I didn’t really.’

She also admitted she did indeed get ‘a bit carried away’ and that she had slimmed herself down and edited the photo and ‘took my tummy in a little bit.’

Yet Brook, 38, has often maintained she’d been proud of her figure and promoted and embraced her curvier side so the editing appeared to sit uneasy with some people.

When Moore asked ‘You have an amazing curvaceous figure … why do you feel the need to airbrush out your tummy?’ Brook replied: ‘Because I’ve been in this industry for so many years I’m always looking at pictures in a different way.’

‘I always put a filter on,’ she said about any sort of photo.

Speaking of pictures of herself, she said: ‘So when I look at myself I think, “oh, that’s a nice picture but I think I can make it a bit better”.’

When Moore then said that was different to altering one’s body size, Brook disagreed: ‘I don’t know, I don’t think so.’

Catch Loose Women weekdays, at 12.30pm, on ITV1.
