They're callin' again, so Kelsey Grammer has been dropping a few hints about his planned Frasier revival after 15 whole years away.

Kelsey, who's currently appearing in a West End show, visited today's (May 24) Lorraine to tease fans with ideas for a "a new Frasier" – six of them, to be precise.

The actor admitted that there are currently "six different ideas" for the reboot that are all in the running, but that nothing has been decided. "We will see," he said.

Hinting at "a continuation of Frasier", Kelsey said: "It's a fun idea, they are all – they are similar but it's [about] a new life in a new city. That kind of thing is where we headed."

Opening up about the death of Frasier and Nile's on-screen father John Mahoney, Kelsey added that any new show will need to "replace the energy" of patriarch Martin Crane.

"[John] was terrific so you need to kind of replace that energy. Like what they did on Cheers with Coach, they found Woody, who had the same kind of sensibility."

Earlier this year, Grammer told Digital Spy that besides a few cast updates, Frasier's "universal themes" won't need changing for a new audience in 2019.

Calling its comedy "timeless", he explained: "I think we may have told two jokes [over 11 seasons] that relied on people knowing what year we were in.

"That is why I think it's a timely show forever. I don't think comedy that relies on somebody knowing exactly what happened yesterday in the news will last."

Lorraine airs weekdays from 8.30am on ITV.
