Kerry Katona breaks down as she admits that she helped her mum attempt suicide

Kerry Katona has never made a secret of her difficult home life or turbulent childhood, with the star spending time in foster care as a teenager.

Now she has opened up in Channel 5’s new series of ‘In Therapy’, which sees famous faces confront their personal issues with the help of a professional counsellor.

Speaking in the show, the mum-of-five breaks down as she makes the startling confession that she once helped her mother in a suicide bid, which thankfully failed.

The singer burst into tears as she explained: “I got all her medicines out and said, ‘Go on, take them, you’re selfish.’

"I made her take all the pills, then I rang for an ambulance and told her I’d pick her up after school.”

Kerry has previously admitted that she got her own children’s names tattooed across her wrists to stop herself from attempting suicide.

She shared: “If it’s hereditary I’d have to be one selfish person to cut through my kids’ names, so that’s why they’re there.

"I’m so proud of how my kids have turned out and that’s down to me.”

Kerry has also previously battled drug addiction and been made bankrupt twice in less than two years, thankfully, she is now in a much better and happier place.
