Kevin Spacey is facing fresh sexual misconduct allegations in the UK.

The Academy Award-winning actor is the subject of a new investigation by Scotland Yard over accusations that stretch back as far as 2005, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement, a Scotland Yard spokesperson didn't name Spacey directly but did say: "On 13 December we received an allegation that the man sexually assaulted a man (Victim 3) in 2005 in Westminster.

"Officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating."

This is the third police investigation into Spacey's past conduct in the UK since American actor Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual assault in an interview last October.

At the time, Spacey said of those allegations: "I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.

"But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all those years."

Since that time, more than 15 people have come forward with misconduct claims, including the mother of a Massachusetts student, Spacey's former colleagues at the Old Vic and House of Cards crew members.

The 58-year-old actor's spokesperson said in November that he'd be seeking "evaluation and treatment" in a private facility in the wake of the scandal.
