KFC has confirmed when its Edge Lane restaurant will reopen.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Edge Lane in August 2023 after a fire broke out in the KFC kitchen. It was later confirmed the fire was "accidental" and caused by overheating of cooking oil.

The fast food chain's doors have been closed since the accident and its windows boarded up. In recent days, barriers have been set up with workmen and vans spotted outside the store.

A KFC spokesperson told the ECHO: “The rumours are true… our Edge Lane restaurant is reopening this summer! We can’t wait to get back at the fryers, serving our iconic fried chicken to our loyal fans in Liverpool. In the meantime, our East Prescot Road KFC is right around the corner!”
