Kidsgrove take over at the top of NSSCL Division Four after Eccleshall lose out

Eccleshall seconds lost their grip on top spot in NSSCL Division Four after losing at Alsager 2nd XI.

The visitors took first use and managed to post 147-9 from their 40 overs.

Jonathan Bramall top-scored with 54, an innings which included five fours and four sixes.

Tom Hibbert chipped in with 28, while Pierce Pickford, Denton Brock, Dave Kelly and Lewis Pickford all took two wickets.

Paul Pickford dominated Alsager’s successful run chase with a well-constructed half-century.

He made an unbeaten 76, which included 10 fours and one six, with Pierce Pickford’s 18 providing support.

Cameron Hunt took 3-30 for Eccleshall, who dropped down to second place, while Jordan Beasley added a double.

Kidsgrove are the new table-toppers following a comprehensive success at Little Stoke seconds.

Three wickets apiece from James Green (3-15) and Joe Clay (3-26) ensured Little Stoke were bowled out for just 87.

Finley Simms (26) and Karl Harvey (20) made the most progress with the bat.

Grove then needed just 14 overs to knock off the runs as Simon Lightfoot compiled 39 and Ryan Davis weighed in with 34 not out.

Moddershall & Oulton fourths swept to a 10-wicket victory over Sandon.

Visitors Sandon could only muster 49 all out on their road trip.

Joseph Walley led the Modd men’s bowling effort with fine figures of 4-3, while Liam Evans grabbed 3-26. There were also two victims for Ben Housley.

Rory Housley’s 33 not out then completed a swift afternoon’s work for the home side.

Ashcombe Park seconds were in impressive form to see off the challenge of their Silverdale counterparts.

Ashcombe Park managed to post 184-8 from thir allocation, led by Steve Proffitt’s half-century.

Proffitt struck 11 fours and one six in his 63, with Nick Goodwin (35), Max Hill (26) and Joe Thompson (23) lending fine support.

Glynn Moore was the pick of the Dale bowlers, finishing with 3-31 and there were a couple of scalps for William Shenton.

In reply, hosts Silverdale saw Matt Smith (37no), Lucas Jones (29no), Zoltan Toth (23) and Gareth Metcalfe (18) make handy contributions.

But it wasn’t enough as Silverdale were restricted to 138-5 when stumps were drawn.

Oakamoor seconds cruised to a crushing win at home against Woore.

Ben Harvey and Matthew Carnwell played star roles with the bat to power Oakamoor to 218-5 in the first half of the contest.

Harvey’s 74 included 10 fours, with Carnwell striking the same number of boundaries in his unbeaten 64. Andrew Burton claimed two wickets.

Michael Burton replied with 30, but Woore were bundled out for 113 after the interval.

Jack Palmer (4-17) and Carnwell (3-33) shared seven wickets and there was a double strike from Freddie Wood.

Knypersley’s Mitchell Edwards was in sparkling form in his side’s win at Church Eaton.

Edwards smashed 143 to form the backbone of Knypersley’s imposing 265-6 from their 40 overs.

His innings contained 19 fours and four sixes and took just 119 balls.

Jared Healey was also in fine fettle, making 50, with Jack Muni chipping in with 27.

Church Eaton slid to 72-8 in reply, before Robert Hogarth restored some pride.

He hit 77, featuring 13 fours and two sixes, while Adrian Melbourn contributed 37 not out.

But their efforts were not enough as Church Eaton closed on 184-9.

Muni picked up 3-13, Marcus Kiely scooped 3-35 and Dominic Cumberbatch added two scalps.
