Kieran Trippier Newcastle United future undetermined with AC Milan linked with Malick Thiaw swap

Kieran Trippier continues to be linked with European clubs with his future at Newcastle United undetermined ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Trippier was heavily linked with Bayern Munich and a clutch of Saudi Pro League clubs earlier in the window. Trippier's name has reportedly been mentioned in conversations with AC Milan as Newcastle continue to try to trade.

And where once there were quick denials on Trippier's future the trail is colder in the current window. Ideally, Trippier would want to stay at Newcastle and arguably he would be one of the first players on Eddie Howe's list to hold on to.

That was the case last January when Bayern made three different offers to buy him from the Magpies but Howe won the fight with his board and kept Trippier in his squad. Howe said last winter to Chronicle Live: "I wasn't a lone voice here. "You'll see a number and think that's potentially good value for Kieran but in our shoes, when you see the breakdown, it's not good value and would have been a poor decision to accept it."

Trippier's name has been mentioned at the same time 22-year-old German international Malick Thiaw was linked with United. The classy right-footed centre-back is represented by Unique Sports Group, an agency that has strong links with Newcastle and represents Anthony Gordon, Lewis Miley and Callum Wilson. Conversations are ongoing at St James' Park on potential exits ahead of June 30 with the PSR health check deadline looming.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are locked in talks on the next step for Yankuba Minteh after it emerged that the teenager turned down a switch to Lyon. The Magpies are keen to sell Minteh for £40million.

However, the player's agent Bakary Bojang has been firm on Minteh's sale from the get go and told Chronicle Live last weekend: "From our side if Newcastle wants to sell and the sporting project is good we will definitely look at it."
