Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's reported exit from Leicester City is said to have taken a dramatic twist - and it is all because of Chelsea and Enzo Maresca.

With City's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) calculations at the front of their minds, the story of Dewsbury-Hall will be one to watch as one of the club's most valuable homegrown assets. Yesterday, The Athletic reported Chelsea to have made an approach for his transfer.

Interest from a club now lead by former Leicester manager Maresca is not unexpected - after all, the Italian got 12 goals and 15 assists out of the midfielder in their one campaign togther. Fabrizio Romano has ratified this, though not without his own shock claim that the Blues are in fact attempting to hijack the deal from rivals Brighton.

In an initial post to X, formerly Twitter, he stated the Foxes had agreed to a cash-plus--player swap deal with the Seagulls - Dewsbury-Hall moving to the South Coast whilst Polish international Jakub Moder transferred to the King Power Stadium. The Brighton player was said to have given the green light as both travelled for medicals.

However, it was only at this point that Chelsea stepped in to make a concrete enquiry of their own, changing the face of the deal entirely. Romano later suggested this arrived as Moder was midway through his medical tests at Seagrave.

No official bid from Chelsea is thought to have arrived, however their presence alongside Brighton's attempts to wrap up a deal complicates matters entirely. The Athletic's report had previously mentioned Stamford Bridge to be the only destination the midfielder would seriously consider - days on from admitting his happiness to remain in the East Midlands, though with that ultimately out of his control.

It is already a precarious situation as is, hoping to avoid sanction from the EFL for last season's dealings whilst handing Steve Cooper the best possible opportunity of ensuring Premier League survival in the year to come.
