Killer driver Darryl Anderson admits causing death of eight-month-old baby and auntie in A1 crash

A dangerous driver has admitted causing the death of an eight-month-old baby and his auntie.

Darryl Anderson pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving after tot Zackary Blades and 30-year-old Karlene Warner, a mum herself, lost their lives after a crash on the A1(M). Zackary's mam, Shalorna Warner, was driving a Peugeot 308, between Chester-le-Street and Durham, when they were struck by an Audi Q5 at 3.15am on May 31.

The pair sustained fatal injuries and tragically died at the scene on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M). On Monday, Anderson appeared at Durham Crown Court to plead guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, Chronicle Live reports.

The 38-year-old also pleaded not guilty to two charges of being in possession of a bladed article, one relating to an axe and the second a knife. Anderson, of Clarell Walk, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham, appeared via video link from HMP Doncaster, where he spoke only to confirm his name and enter the four pleas.

Judge Jo Kidd ordered that Anderson continues to be remanded in custody until he attends Durham Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday, July 9.
