Kim Kardashian often spends hours each week trying on new products for her Skims brand.

In an interview with Time Magazine's Most Influential Companies issue, the 42-year-old shared that she is usually the fit model during the development of new pieces for her shapewear and underwear brand. This means that she can spend hours each week trying on the latest designs, and she estimates that she has tried on more than 7,000 items.

"I always like to see it on myself," she stated. "I can absolutely tell when I miss a few (release) drops."

The reality TV star launched Skims in late 2019 with shapewear and underwear and the line has since expanded to include swimwear, loungewear, and dresses.

In addition to being the co-founder and creative director, Kim is heavily involved in the design process - she chooses the fabrics and cuts of the pieces, comes up with the concepts for the campaigns, and selects photographers and models for the promos.

While The Kardashians star often appears in the campaigns herself, she admitted to the publication that she is hoping to cut back and pose for slightly fewer campaigns each year.

Recalling the inspiration for the company, Kim said, "It started off with simply finding shapewear that was a skin tone that would match my colour. I used to take my shapewear and dye it with tea bags and coffee in the bathtub."

Based on her experiences, Kim made Skims an inclusive brand, with it offering designs in 10 skin tones and sizes XXS to 4X.
