Kim Petras 'will never get over' starring in MAC's Viva Glam campaign

Kim Petras "will never get over" fronting MAC Cosmetics' iconic Viva Glam campaign.

The German singer can't believe her life has come full circle, from buying Viva Glam lipsticks in a shop as a teenager to fronting the beauty brand's long-running lipstick campaign.

"I will never get over it. Like I'm so excited," she told StyleCaster. "I showed it to my closest friends and it got very emotional reactions from them. Especially from my best friend in Germany, who I know from high school, because we used to spend all of our pocket money on lipsticks -that's all we did, just like walk around and smoke cigarettes and wear make-up and spend our money at MAC. So you know, it feels like I've come such a long way."

With her appointment, the Unholy singer follows in the footsteps of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and many more.

The transgender star singled out two of her favourite Viva Glam predecessors, telling Byrdie that RuPaul's inaugural Viva Glam campaign back in 1994 "set the bar high" and is on "every mood board ever".

Meanwhile, she was "absolutely obsessed" with the lavender lipstick in Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam collection more than 10 years ago.

"I remember running to the store to get her Viva Glam Lipsticks with my friends. And I actually still have her lavender lipstick - or what's left of it!" she shared.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the charitable campaign, MAC has released four matte lipstick shades - Viva Heart, Viva Equality, Viva Planet, and Viva Empowered.

Sales of the lipsticks go to non-profit organisations that support healthy futures and equal rights for women, girls, and the LGBTQIA+ communities and continue to its decades-long support for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Kim stars in the campaign alongside Mexican singer Danna Paola.
