In fact, in another first, Echo‘s five-episode season will drop Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 on both Disney+ and Hulu, it was announced this morning.

“No bad deed goes unpunished” is the theme of the trailer for the five-episode “streaming event,” which follows Maya Lopez (Hawkeye‘s Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk’s (Vincent D’Onofrio) criminal empire. “When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy,” the synopsis adds.

The trailer also allows a glimpse of Fisk sporting an eye patch after Maya shot him in the Hawkeye finale. (As you’ll recall, Maya confronted Fisk in an alley about having her father killed and fired a shot off-screen.)

Maya is a deaf Native American martial artist who can perfectly replicate a person’s moves, hence the nickname Echo. In the comics, she mixed it up with the likes of Daredevil, Blade and the Avengers (including Clint Barton aka Hawkeye).

In addition to Cox and D’Onfrio, the series also stars Chaske Spencer (Blindspot), Tantoo Cardinal (Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning (Smoke Signals), Graham Greene (Longmire) and Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds), who is back as Maya’s father William. Plus, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will reportedly appear in the series.

Echo episodes are directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai), while its executive producers include Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Victoria Alonso, Richie Palmer, Jason Gavin (Blackfeet), Marion Dayre and Sydney Freeland.
